I'm Shawndelle Wilcoxson. I was one of Mr. Lovelace's teachers when he was an Assistant Principal at Meadowdale High School. He was also my son's Principal when Dayton Boys Prep first opened. I will never forget the day the school had a big program. My son was a rapper in the second grade choir. When the program was over, his sisters that came and supported him were so proud of all of the boys who participated. We even had a small chit chat when one of his sister's said, "He's the only boy! We were going to be here to support our brother!"
I loved me some Mr. Lovelace! He was the most supportive Principal I had ever had at that time. He always encouraged me to continue to be the good science teacher that I was and never let the students get to me. He was also very good with those boys. When he retired, that was truly the end of "Dayton Boys Prep Academy!" He was an awesome and special man! God Bless your family at this time. You have my condolences.

We've shared a 30 year friendship and you have been the brother I never had. There are no words to explain what this has done to me. I will miss all of the wonderful stories we have shared about everything. The world has truly lossed great man. Heaven has gained a true angel. Until we meet again.

It was truly an honor and blessing to work with Mr. Lovelace and I got a chance to see what a great man and leader he was. I will never forget the warmth his smile brought to the office each and every day. It was a pleasure to work for one of the great leaders in DPS. I pray that in this difficult time, God gives you the strength and courage to bear the loss of your love one

I was "Principal for a Day" twice while Horace was Principal at the All Boys Prep School. He left me "totally" in charge both times. I truly learned the work of a leader of school age young men. Horace was a good friend and fraternity brother. YITB, Calvin D. Heard
