Obituary for Samuel WEBB

The Webb family, with heavy hearts and sadness, acknowledges the death of our beloved brother. Samuel was born on February 6, 1965 and raised in a loving family in Dayton Ohio. He passed away on April 21, 2021 after a brief illness.

The family attended Mount Olivet Church of God in Christ, under the auspices of Elder Ozell Northern, Sr. (retired). Sam played drums at church and sang in the “Buds of Promise,” he also attended Deliverance Temple Ministries International, under the direction of Bishop & Apostle, Benjamin and Sheila Morrow.

As a high school student he played drums in groups such as the Urban Drum Corps, the American Legion and Westside Express. As a high school student at both Fairview and Meadowdale he played football and basketball. He graduated from Meadowdale High School, class of 1983. He then joined in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged.

Samuel “Sam” was a Fraternity Brother in Prince Hall Mason under I. H. Claiborne, O’ahu Military Lodge #635 and Eastern Star, Knights Templar and part of the O’ahu, Hawaii Chapter.

Sam’s favorite song was “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say” recorded by Edwin Hawkins, however the instrumental version that Samuel enjoyed was performed by David Davis, organist for A. A. Allen Ministries.

Preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Evelyn A. (Goins) Webb and siblings, James E. Brown, Jacqueline D. Long, and Norman Kilgore. He Leaves behind one loving daughter, Samantha Webb; brothers and sisters, Pastor Michael and Dorothy Goins, Gregory S. Long, Sr., Patricia “Pat” (Thornton) Johnson, Evelyn Daniels, Charlene S. Webb, Elissa (Webb) Strozier and David R. Webb, Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great- great nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family in Atlanta Georgia. Lest we forget, he had good classmates, friends and neighbors throughout his life time.

A special “shout out” to Ms. April Jackson who served as a caregiver for our brother Sam for an extended period of time. Thank you, everyone, for your kindness and love as we get through this difficult time, mourning our brother, “Big SAM.”

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Deliverance Temple Ministries International, 80 E. Nottingham Rd. Dayton, Ohio 45405. Interment: Dayton National Cemetery.
