Obituary for Ronald Lee WOODS

Ronald Lee Woods, 66, born in Dayton, OH January 4, 1955 to Wilbert and Mary Ellen (Powell) Woods. He went to be with the Lord March 1, 2021. Ronald served honorably in the Army after attending Roth H.S. He had a generous soul, a hearty laugh and a smile for everyone. Ronald persevered in spite of stroke related limitations. He loved his family, his friends and his Lord. His daily activities included Bible reading, keeping an eye on the weather, the Price Is Right, Sanford & Son, Judge Judy and playing tug of war with the family dog, Atticus. Ronald left one up on the dog in wins.

Preceded in death by his parents, sister Wilberetta Woods and brother-in-law Tommie Darden, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory daughter Shanika Moore, siblings Gilbert (Angel) Jones, Mary Besley, Delores Darden, Gilbert (Cheryl) Woods, Gloria Woods and Ronnie (Tamika) McNeal, lifelong friend Arthur Lynch, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family, and of course, his canine companion, Atticus.

Ronald spent the last 3 years living with his brother & sister-in-law, Gilbert and Cheryl. His presence will be missed like hearing him laugh out loud at tv shows he had seen many times, his reminiscing about his life as a young man and how grateful he was for his family. He was quick to thank God for everything good in his life. His hope was in the promise of Heaven & we have no doubt that he is rejoicing in the ever after even as we mourn his loss.

We want to thank our friends and family who have reached out during this difficult time, the wonderful staff at Miami Valley Hospital’s Neuroscience ICU and the Emergency Department who treated Ronald with care and dignity. Ronald’s primary care was rendered by the talented medical staff at the Dayton VA Medical Center and all are greatly appreciated for their effect on his life and health.

Services will be held at Thomas Funeral Home, 4520 Salem Ave, Dayton, OH on Friday, March 12, 2021. Walk through visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the celebration of life at 11:00 AM. Ronald will be laid to rest, in honor of his service to his country, at the Dayton National Cemetery. While the family appreciates all of your kindness, thoughts and prayers, we respectfully request that everyone practice covid protocols during visitation and service.
