Obituary for Robert L MCGUIRE
Robert Lee McGuire was born on August 29, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio to MC Sr. and Nellie K. McGuire. Robert departed this earth and transitioned home to heaven on Wednesday, July 8, 2020.
Robert was an alumnus of Roosevelt High School class of 1967. He enjoyed playing softball, coaching and playing basketball, and bragged much about his left hand jump shot. Robert loved music, dancing, and MCing; all that contributed to his nickname Dr. Bop.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Tillman McGuire, Anna Allen, Mildred Sherrer, Beatrice McGuire, Sally Blackburn, Janice Nelson; and best friend Ronald Bo-Bo Foster. He leaves to cherish his memories, four children Tracy Wortham (Dearon), Kevin Tooson (Alicia), Ryann Leigh McGuire (Emanuel III),and Brandon Wester; his wonderful grandchildren Tyler Walton, Daniel Tooson, Erin Wortham, Emanuel Reed IV, Haneisha Wortham, Dejene Wortham, Noah Wester, Jonah Wester, Jacob Wester, Briella and Braylin Wester, Christopher Giswite, and Savannah Giswite; his siblings, Willie McGuire (Joan), MC McGuire Jr. (Dora), Janie Williams-Washington, Samuel McGuire (Rosalyn), Joyce McGuire Hall (Henry), and Milton McGuire (Alice); special friend Gloria Hunter and daughter Krystle,best friends Michael Mann, Jerry Steed, Rudy Benjamin, Leophus Hayden, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A home going celebration will take place on Friday, July 17, 2020, at Thomas Funeral Home, 4520 Salem Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45416. Services are open to the public for a walk through from 5:00PM-6:00PM (MASKS ARE REQUIRED) and closed to family only from 6:00PM-7:00PM.
