Richard Vernon Young Sr., age 72, was born September 23, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio to James and Corill Young. He was educated in the Dayton Public School system and graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1967. He received his training as a Dental Technician at his first place of employment, Saidel's Dental Office. He retired from Van Buren Dental in Kettering, Oh. Richard accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized as a young boy. He was a past member at Corinthian Baptist Church.

Richard was a strong man who was a mentor to all. He was an extremely intelligent man and spoke meaningful words of wisdom to both the young and old. He was humorous and always made you feel accepted and loved. His passion was golfing and he enjoyed spending time with family, bowling and fishing.

On Saturday, January 23, 2021, Richard transitioned from this life to be in the presence of the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, (4) sisters, Juanita Venable, Minnie Johnson, Mary Sewell and Judy Young; (2) brothers, Booker T. and Roosevelt Young. Richard leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia L. Young; (1) daughter, Lavenia (Jason) Edwards and (1) son, Richard Vernon (April) Young Jr; (8) grandchildren, Jenisa (Lester) Richmond, Malik Young, Jazmyne and Destini Cooper, Darryl Crowder, Cavender, Gabrielle and Jason Ian Edwards; (8) great grandchildren; (2) brothers, William (Kyle) and Oliver Young; special nephew, Christopher Barton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 5, 2021, at West Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6722 Hemple Rd., Moraine, OH 45418. Interment: West Memory Gardens Cemetery.
