Rev. William Smith Jr., age 67, transitioned to be with the Lord on March 11, 2021. Born in Dayton, OH on September 20, 1953 to Rachel and William Smith, he was a 1972 graduate of Roth High School. He served in the U.S Navy, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1978. William also attended Ohio State University. A retiree from Dayton Public Schools. William served as a minister at Greater St. John MBC where he was a longtime member. Preceded in death by his father, William Smith; mother, Rachel Smith-Brookshire; brother, Timothy “Butchie” Smith. He leaves wife, Cathie Smith; 2 sons, William Smith III (Nicole Gibson) and Marcus Smith (Robin Robertson); 7 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Rena Smith, Oretha Smith, Jackie Smith, and Portia Smith; brother, Henry (Jill) Smith; numerous nephews and nieces, and a host of other family and close friends. Service will be Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Mt. Enon Baptist Church (1501 W. Third Street). Visitation at 10 A.M, service will begin at 11 A.M.
