Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Jones, age 98 was born May 3, 1921 in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Harry W. and Clordean Shockley. She was a graduate of Gallipolis Academy High School and retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base after 35 years of service as a Clerk Typist. Mary accepted Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized in Jesus’ name as a young girl. Mary was a member of the Eastern Star for many years. She was a fantastic woman who loved family and always willing to help anyone in need. She was extremely wise and a great counselor. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed traveling and dining out. On Thursday, January 23, 2020 Mary Elizabeth Jones transitioned from this life to be in the presence of the Lord. She was also preceded in death by (1) son, Harry E. Liggins; (2) sisters, Louise Wilson and Bessie Graham; (1) brother, Harry Shockley and sister-in-law, Shirley Shockley. Mary leaves to cherish precious memories and celebrate her life; (1) son Charles Thomas (Amber) Liggins; (4) grandchildren, LaCharles E. Liggins, LaShawn Wiley, Dermont Walker Smith and Dametrais Minor; (4) great grandchildren and (4) great, great grandchildren; (1) sister, Alzona “Ona” (Holmes); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm. FRIDAY, January 31, 2020 at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF RIDGEWOOD HEIGHTS, 116 Hanover St., with Rev. Rodney L. Cranford, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: Woodland Cemetery. Online condolences may also be sent to the family at www.thomasfunerals.com.
