Obituary for Marvin D MOORE

Marvin Dell Moore, 76, claimed his heavenly reward after a lengthy illness at Stonespring Transitional Care Center. He was born February 9, 1944, in Homer, LA. He was the eldest son of Mary Ferrell and Lonnie Moore. He came to Dayton, OH, at the age of 2, attending DPS and graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1962 where he was a member of the tennis team. He later attended Central State University. Marvin served in the Army National Guard and was a retiree from Delphi Chassis (formerly Delco Moraine, Div GM) after 41 years. He was also a member of Believers Christian Fellowship Church.

Although Marvin had a quiet presence, he was notorious for those who knew him to make very random humorous remarks. He was relaxed and laid back but enjoyed the thrills of an amusement park and roller coasters with his family. Marvin was also better known as “Dapper Dan” for being well groomed and dressed in a fancy and elegant manner. In younger years he enjoyed playing tennis and was a member of Dayton Tennis Club. In addition, his most favorite pastime was watching television specifically movies and football as he was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. He enjoyed having the most up to date electronics and big screen televisions, keeping up with the newest cars and listening to many genres of music like jazz, rhythm and blues and gospel.

Marvin married Delpha Davis on May 20, 1967, to that union was a son and a daughter. He was preceded in death by his father; brothers, Riley, Lonnie C., Clinton Moore; sister, Doretha Moore. Leaving to cherish his legacy, his wife of 53 years; mother; sons, Gregory Robert Lowe Sr. (Sandy) of Dayton, Marcel Delwyn Moore (Tasha) of Cleveland; daughter, Mone’t Verchell Moore of Dayton and an adopted daughter Sheena Styles of Dayton; grandchildren, Gregory Robert Lowe Jr., Jaiden Shemar Cameron and his father Robert Jaie Cameron, Daylon Marcel and Destin Renee Moore; brother, John L. Moore; sister, Eler Brown Pollard (Dominic); great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Special friends Artis Moore, Earl and Wynema Mebane, Wert Williams, Cheryl Turner and Juliann Williams.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at Believers Christian Fellowship Church, 3010 McCall St., Dayton, Ohio 45417, with Reverend Dr. William E. Harris, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum.
