Obituary for Martha CLARKE

CLARKE, Martha Ann Patton was born on October 30, 1946 in Bardstown, Kentucky and passed away on June 6, 2020, in Dayton, Ohio. She attended high school in Frankfort, Kentucky at Good Shepherd Catholic School. She then earned her undergraduate degree, with honors, from Kentucky State University. While attending Kentucky State University, she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Later, she moved to Dayton, Ohio where she would begin her career as an educator, primarily focused on teaching English and language arts at the junior high school level. To further enhance her skill set as a teacher, she returned to school during the 1970's and earned a Masters in Education at Wright State University. She married Alexander L. Nealy (1940-2019), and they had a son, Darren L. Nealy. Many years later, she was rewed, marrying Maceo Clarke (1932-2009). For many years, Martha attended and worshiped at Assumption Parish in Dayton, where she served as a lector. She later became a parishioner at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Dayton. She is survived by one son, Darren Nealy (Erin); two brothers, James Patton (Lynda) and Lee Patton (Lorenzo); two granddaughters, Alaina and Adele Nealy; her loving partner, Hughes "Sonny" Miller; niece Asha Smith (Damaneon); nephew Ade Patton (Jessica); and a host of additional family members and loving friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, James H. Patton, Jr., and Edna M. (Cross) Patton.
