Marie D. Buycks (Duchess)
Marie was born June 11, 1933 and departed this life February 9, 2020 at the age of 86. Marie was born to the late Leonard A. and Easter L. Miliner in Tallassee, Al.
Marie first joined Greater St. John Baptist Church upon arriving in Ohio. She later became a charter member of Little Rock Baptist Church where she was the first Minister of Music. After the split of Little Rock she and other members followed the vision of the late Rev. H. J. Lanier to begin what is now known as Omega Baptist Church. Marie also served as Omega’s first Minister of Music.
Marie was a woman after God’s own heart and a melodist and angelic worshipper of God. When she sang it didn’t matter what denomination you were from, you were going to be blessed. She was kind and considerate. Always willing to help anyone in need and never wanting anything in return. She knew her reward was in heaven.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Easter Miliner, her husband John P. Buycks, Sr., daughter Linda Y. Munday, sister Luella M. Jenkins and 5 brothers Joseph Miliner, Rollen Miliner, Lorenza Miliner, Obadiah Miliner and Fred Miliner.
She leaves to cherish her memory, 2 sons, Reginald D. Cooper of Jacksonville, Fl., John P. Buycks, Jr., 1 daughter Annie G. Taylor both of Dayton, OH. 11 Grandchildren: Richard, India, Anya, Carmen, Myquan, Asia, Myiesha, John Isaac, Josiah, Katelyn and Ardel, 4 great Grandchildren: Donye’, Aonar, Darion and Jo’quan. 3 Brothers: Bosie W. Miliner, Sr., Walter L. Miliner (Mary), Marvin E. Miliner (Myrtle) of Trotwood, OH. 2 Sisters –in-law: Ophelia of Tallassee. Al. and Teresa Miliner of Trotwood, OH, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves to cherish her memory 2 beloved congregations: The Omega Baptist Church and The Little Rock Baptist Church.
