Welch, Johnnie R. 79, was a lifelong resident of Dayton, Ohio. He departed this life on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Grandview Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Mary B. Welch . . . Siblings: Clifton, Issac, Gregory Welch and a loving niece Felicia Welch . . . John was a retiree of The Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton and Jamestown Moraine . . . He was a quiet man of few words who enjoyed cooking for loved ones, movies, music and picnics in the park . . .

John leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Ethel M. Yates-Welch, devoted sister Rosemary Williams, sisters Maria and Star Welch . . . brothers Anthony, Cleophus, Elihu, Farrell and Vary Welch . . . step daughter Ebony R. Coleman, grandson Coleman L. Peterson, mother-in-law Louise Kohlbeck, dear friend Tracy Miller and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. “Johnnie’s life was a Blessing, his memory a Treasurer, he is loved beyond words and missed beyond Measure.”

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Thomas Funeral Home, 4520 Salem Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45416. Walk through visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
