LOGAN, Jeanne E., age 98, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Jeanne was born in Richmond, Indiana on September 17, 1921, to the marriage of Mae and Orville Ross. She attended two years of college at Earlham State College in Richmond Indiana. While in the first semester of her freshman year, she met her future husband, Benjamin Henry Logan and fell in love. At the end of her second year at Earlham she married Ben and three years later Benjamin Henry Logan Jr. was born. Three and a half years later Jesse Ross Logan was born and after nineteen years of marriage baby Jeanne was born. However, baby Jeanne had a breathing problem and expired this life after sixteen hours.
When Ben was drafted into the Navy she went to work at Gallagher’s Drug store and then at DESC and later met up with Ben in New York when he was released from the Navy. The two of them moved back to Dayton and for many years stayed with the (Tabernacle) Copeland family. Ben worked at Suchers Meat Packing Company and while working there he invested in Peanut machine parts as he assembled 125 peanut machines and placed them in locations all around the Miami Valley. From the 80% profits of his Peanut machines he invested in his first of thirteen businesses. Jeanne worked faithfully along side her husband as they invested in one business after another
After Ben passed in 1979 and she and Jesse continued to work in the business until she retired and sold the last few business in 1990 at the age of seventy (70). She tried to keep busy by line dancing with Senior Citizens, traveling to her cabin in Idlewild, Michigan for a two month stay and traveling to Florida with her good friend Minnie Robinson (mother-in-law) of Ben. She could not keep still so six years later she went to work at Trotwood schools working in the cafeteria and serving food as a part time worker. She worked at Trotwood schools for the next 10 years and retired at the age of eighty-six (86). Shortly, after that her mental health started to fail and she went to live with her son Jesse and daughter-in-law Ann until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin H. Logan Sr., son Benjamin H. Logan Jr. (Denice). She is survived by her son Jesse R. Logan (Ann), brother Orville Ross (Thelma), Fredrico Rosendo (Mariam), grandchildren Fonda Jean Logan, Benjamin Matthew Logan, Barry Lewis Logan (MacKenzie), Gary Erwin Moore, Bradford Jesse Logan, and William Benjamin Logan, Brother-in-law Lewis Logan (Jr.) Sister-in-laws Barbara Graves and Wilma Logan, Nephews Noel Clemens (Joanne), nephews and nieces Terry Logan (Sylvia), Steve Logan (Bernice), John (Turk) Logan (Tracy), Nina Simpson, Vicky Logan, Tracy Bennett (Clyde), Marsha Williams (Will), Orville Ross Jr 3rd(deceased) Glen Ross Jr., Dino Ross (Teria), great nephew Shawn (Allison) Williams (and children) great niece Jacqueline Sumlin, Kyle Logan and Justice Logan, great, great Nephews Tyson Logan, Chase Blackman, Chaston Lovett, Jax Logan great, great nieces Sydney Logan and Laila Logan. She will be missed by a host of family and friends. Mom had a special place in her heart for her Widowers club, Charlotte Calhoun (deceased), Minnie Robinson (deceased) and Dorothy Hand (deceased), Loraine Brown and Ryan McClin. She will also be missed by her Tabernacle church family, her Friendship Village family and the many people that she and her husband Ben helped and employed in their forty three years in business.
