Obituary for Imogene PRITCHETT

Imogene S. Pritchett, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Arthur and Savannah Warren-Clemons was born on February 8, 1933 departed this life on March 2, 2021 at Maria-Joseph Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Dayton, Ohio.
She was the youngest of thirteen children and preceded in death by all of her siblings and one Daughter, Tammy Lynn Payne. Imogene’s father was a Minister and her Mother was a Missionary in the church. Imogene accepted Christ at an early age, she first started playing the guitar as a young girl and later on the piano. Imogene was a great singer and dedicated her life to the Ministry of the Church. She has played for many churches in of Dayton, Ohio and Michigan City, Indiana.

Imogene was a faithful member of Hatchett’s Temple in Michigan City, Indiana until she relocated to Dayton, Ohio where she then became a faithful member of Mount Zion Transformation Ministries. She became a well-respected Gospel singer in Dayton, Ohio who was loved by many.

Imogene was not only musically inclined but she was Valedictorian of the Class of 1952 at Ada Hanna High School’s in Hamilton, Alabama. She had a career at Miami Valley hospital where she was a Nursing Assistant and later Jones’s Nursing Home as a cook.

As a resident of Maria Joseph Nursing & Rehabilitation Center people would often hear her singing and playing the keyboard in her room as well as the piano in the lobby of the first floor of Emma Hall. Her songs & music has uplifted the residents and the visitors as they gathered around the piano.

Imogene was a devoted loving mother, grandmother, aunt & friend. She leaves to cherish her loving memories; 2 daughters Lisa F. Payne and Sophia L. Payne of Dayton, Ohio; 5 Sons Paul J. (Margaret) Payne, Jr., of Lansing, Michigan, Bruce E. (Gwen) Payne, Sr., Alaric J. (Debbie) Payne, Wilford L. Payne, Rodney C. (Diana) Payne, Sr., all of Dayton, Ohio. Thirty- two Grandchildren, sixty Great-Grandchildren, and six Great-great Grandchildren; a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Mount Zion Transformation Ministries, 548 Anna St., Dayton, Ohio 45402, with Pastor Carl Norton officiating. Walk through visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Interment: Greenwood Cemetery.
