Obituary for Henry Mitchel JOHNSON

A native of Fayetteville, TN, Mitch is one of eight beloved children born to Fred and Mable Johnson. His parents, along with his sister, Josephine Smith, and brothers, Horace (Popeye) Johnson and William (Snook) Eslick, are undoubtedly rejoicing with him in Heaven.

Mitch moved to Dayton in 1959. He served as a dedicated leader for the state of Ohio and Montgomery County for more than 40 years; most recently managing operations at the Reibold Building.

Mitch loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He was often quiet and reserved, but when he spoke, everyone listened. His kind heart and generous spirit earned him the respect and admiration of so many.

Mitch is survived by his devoted companion, Sue Williams. He also leaves his children to honor his memory, Sheila and Antonio Johnson, and bonus daughters, Nikki Williams Geter and Angie Williams. His loyal siblings, Fred (Dorothy), Marilyn, and John (Margaret) Johnson, Bessie Shotwell, and Fletcher Smith, will continue his legacy of compassion and goodwill. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends are eternally grateful for the outstanding example and continuous support provided by Mitch.

Graveside service, as requested by Henry Mitchel Johnson, will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, July 15, 2022, at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery, 8135 North Dixie Drive, Dayton, Ohio 45415. Interment: Dayton Memorial Park. Arrangements entrusted to THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, 4520 Salem Ave. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.thomasfunerals.com
