George “Buddy” Johnson was a proud Native of Dayton, OH born to Henry Johnson and Tomi Harris on Feb 11, 1941. He was the second oldest of six (6) children. As a child he got the nickname Buddy. George graduated from Dunbar High School Class of 1959 and was an all-city football player. George attended Kentucky State University on a football scholarship and completed his Sophomore year. He then started to work at Inland in 1962. He was drafted to the army and serviced a tour in Seoul, Korea. George enjoyed his time as a bachelor with friends on fishing trips, playing volleyball and cookouts. A special shout out to his sisters and nieces that would help keep his house in order. George and Marna Tuck welcomed Tamala Georgette in 1979 and married Marna in 1982 officially becoming Catherine’s bonus dad. He was a wonderful father and provider. He always made sure his girls received Valentines gifts … of course, it was the day after so he could save 50% off! George enjoyed his home and being outdoors; all his nephews and nieces had the opportunity to mow three acres of land for pizza and maybe five dollars! George worked at Inland-General Motors for 30 as a lab technician. After retirement he started his lawn care and hauling service; often helping the elderly. Everyone knows that George was passionate about playing the lotto! He was also present and vocal about being a coach and mentor for all of Tammy’s soccer games, track meets and golf tournaments. He made a mean beef stew, the juiciest prime rib and took pride in creating his seafood gumbo.
