Obituary for Deborah T LEIGH

On Sunday, August 26, 1979, God in his infinite wisdom blessed Gary and Gloria Theressa (Hatch) Leigh with the birth of a beautiful baby girl, DEBORAH THERESSA LEIGH. She was the third of four children and only daughter. Deborah attended Dayton Public Schools and worked in the Nursing Assistant field. Deborah’s greatest joy was the birth of her two precious daughters, Sha’ Breia in 1999 and Da’ Mya in 2001. A devoted mother who loved her children dearly and always supported them no matter what. She was extremely overjoyed with the birth of her grandchildren, but it was during the birth of her first granddaughter, Londyn that she became ill. In May of 2015, Deborah was diagnosed with a very rare form of multiple sclerosis called Neuromyelitis Optica, and spent 6 months in the hospitals in Columbus and Dayton. Her mother, daughters, and siblings brought her home to care for her until her illness became worse, and she had to enter a nursing facility. Deborah was a GOD fearing woman and always believed GOD would heal her. Deborah loved her family very much and always had time for her nieces and nephews, and other children. Deborah shared a very special relationship with her mother who was her best-friend and who stayed by her side throughout her illness. Deborah was sweet but without flaws she could sometimes become very agitated after her illness, but never felt sorry for herself and was always positive. She deeply believed in whatever GOD’s will was for her life. Deborah was a defacto mother to her siblings and could always be depended upon to be there whenever needed. She was very close to all her nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents,, Alonzo and Estella Leigh, maternal grandfather, Edward Hatch Sr., great grandmothers, Marsha Grant Mattie Arnold, and Mary Cowing, uncles, Len Hatch, Barry Smith, aunt, Gayle Wortham Hatch, and special cousin, Tevan Harding. On Wednesday, February 5, 2020, GOD sent angels to care-flight Deborah home to him. She passed in the presence of her beloved maternal grandmother.
