Obituary for Crystal Jo HENDERSON

God sent His angels to take CRYSTAL JO HENDERSON back to her heavenly home on Monday, May 4, 2020. Crystal was born on October 31, 1947, to the parentage of the late Noble E. Henderson and the late Margaret Ford Henderson in Muncie, IN. At an early age, Crystal moved to Dayton, Ohio with her family. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1965 and after graduation Crystal went on to pursue her dream of becoming an educator. Crystal received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Lane College in Jackson, TN. She returned ¬¬to Dayton after college and became an educator for over 35 years with the Dayton Public School System. Crystal was very active in the school system and with her students. She was a Girl Scout Leader, cheerleader coach, volleyball coach and also a DPS participant/educator on the bowling league. In addition to being active in the school system, Crystal enjoyed baking cakes and pies, traveling, and getting manicures and pedicures. Crystal was a devoted member of Harris Memorial C.M.E. Church in Dayton, OH for over 20 years where she volunteered with the youth and worked with the kitchen ministry. She was no stranger to anyone she met and she was always in good spirits. Her most prized possession and joy was her daughter, Tara C. Henderson. She loved spending time with her daughter and her family very much. Crystal was preceded in death by her niece, Yolanda Fambro, her nephew, Kevin Blackmon and her great-nephew, Carl Lucas Talley. Along with her daughter, Tara, Crystal leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Beverly Sue Blackmon of Dayton, OH; one nephew Noble L. Blackmon of Dayton, OH; a devoted niece, Sonya L. Blackmon of Dayton, OH; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., TUESDAY, May 12, 2020 at THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, 4520 Salem Ave. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: West Memory Gardens.
