Obituary

VAUGHN, Minister Beverly Ann Derricks, a long-time resident of Dayton, Ohio, was was born on Sept 27, 1946 in Chattanooga, TN to the union of the late Mary Ellen Belton and the late Henry Albert Derricks. She was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit under the teaching and training of the late Bishop Lucy McGuffey, at the Isle of Patmos Holiness Tabernacle. She was later called into the ministry and licensed and ordained by Pastor Tyrone McGuffey. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4: 1 – 3; “I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me”. Assistant Pastor Vaughn continually applied this scripture to her life daily, as she followed leadership and trusted God for all of her needs. On September 16, 2001, she answered Gods call and was ordained Assistant Pastor of Bread of Heaven Ministries in Dayton, Ohio, under the leadership of Founder and Pastor, Overseer Almeda Warren. She truly lived for the promise and served faithfully until the Lord saw fit to bring her home. Whether Beverly was your Pastor, Mother, Aunt, Granny, Sister or Friend, she will be remembered for being stern in her belief in the word of God and doing what’s right. Never hesitating to let you know when you were wrong. As long as she was able to move, she was in the kitchen cooking for one event or another, regardless of the pain that she was feeling in her body. She never gave of herself bitterly or reluctantly, but always with love and kindness. She will always be remembered for her willingness to support with her God given gifts and talents, but she will be forever Loved by all because through it all, she remained steadfast in her faith, strong in character and willing to serve from her heart. Beverly was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday the 29th of March, 2020 at Sycamore Health Center. She was proceeded in death by her brother Glenn Derricks, sons, Brian Hale and Joseph Derricks. She leaves to cherish her memory; her close and dear friend David Vaughn, her Aunt Minerva, her son Theodore (Sandra) Hale Jr., her daughters Yolaunda Hale, and Dene’e Vaughn. She has four grand-children; Teon (Nikeia) Stephens, Jamal (Shova) Hale, Dominique (Dayton) Hale, and Diondra Hale, and two great grand-children; Aria Hale and Ta’Keia Stephens. She has four nieces; Tonya (John) Derricks-Gaines, Telicia (John) Coleman, Tashawana (Vondel) Davis, Tashameca L. Benjamin, one nephew; Justin (Alyn) Utley and a host of great nieces and nephews. Special mention to Francis Cottrell (spiritual sister and aide), you were always there to assist her whenever she needed, while she was dealing with her condition. I know that she appreciated everything that you did for her, as do we. The family wishes to acknowledge with deepest appreciation, your outpouring of spiritual support and love that is extended to us. All of the cards, calls, texts, prayers, words of comfort, and other acts of kindness have been a source of strength to us. May the Lord continue to bless each and every one of you Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., FRIDAY, April 3, 3020 at THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, 4520 Salem Ave., with Pastor Almeida Warren, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: West Memory Gardens. On-line condolences may also be sent to the family at www.thomasfunerals.com
