Obituary for Bennie GRISSOM

Bennie H. Grissom, passed away on Sunday morning August 23, 2020, at the age of 105. He was born on September 5, 1914, in Hogansville, GA. When he moved to Dayton, he met and married his first wife Alta Little, they had three children, Charles, Lawson, and Arlene.

His second marriage to Louise Clayton, they had four more children, Rozetta, Benjamin, Lauretta, Barrington, and also Charles Jenkins.

He worked at different jobs thru the years including farming. He retired from N.C.R. as the first person of color to drive a truck delivering cash registers. He and his wife moved to Mississippi after retirement. He moved back to Dayton, after his wife passed away. He rejoined his church family at Ethan Temple S.D.S Church.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Hattie and Harrison Grissom; his wife of over 50 years, Louise; his sons, Charles, Lawson, Benjamin, and Charles; special son-in-law Robert Heisle; and his brother, James Grissom.

Left to cherish him always are his daughters, Arlene Heisle, Rosetta Byrd, and Lauretta Rutlin; son Barrington; 8 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Walk through viewing will be held from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm, MONDAY, August 31, 2020, at Thomas Funeral Home, 4520 Salem Ave., Trotwood, Ohio 45416. Procession immediately following to Graveside service at West Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6722 Hemple Road, Moraine, OH 45439, with Pastor M.
