U.S. Veteran JAMES, Willie Arnic, age 77, of Dayton, departed this life on Sunday, May 6, 2012. He was born July 23, 1934 in Lyman, S.C. and resided in Dayton many years, where he graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 1951. He briefly served in the U. S. Marine Corps and was discharged in 1955. Keeping close contact with his family down south, he met and married his wife of 35 years, Maxine Goldsmith. He later retired in 1999 from RTA as a diesel mechanic following many years of service. His zest for life continued; evidenced by his joy of playing softball and dancing at many of the clubs around the Dayton area. He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin James; mother, Nellie Jones and step-mother, Christine (Turner) James. Survivors include (3) sons, Willie T., Ray B. and Vincent G. James; (1) daughter, Cindy Showers; (6) grandchildren, (3) great grandchildren, numerous beloved cousins, other relatives and acquaintances. Funeral services 11:00 A.M., MONDAY, May 14, 2012 at THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, 4520 Salem Ave., with Reverend Greg Parker, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
