Carrie S. LOWERY

LOWERY, Carrie S. (Meadows), of Dayton, departed this life peacefully on (Easter Sunday), April 8, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton, in Dayton, OH at the age of 75. Carrie was a loving wife, mother, friend and a faithful servant of God who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, while helping those in need. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at a very early age. She was a native of Charlottesville, VA, and was born to the late Willie S. and Gladys B. Meadows. Carrie was a graduate of Jackson P. Burley High School and University of Virginia School of Licensed Practical Nursing. Upon moving to Dayton, she was employed at Miami Valley Hospital and the Dayton VA Medical Center, where she retired after 40 years of service. She was a member of the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nursing (NFLPN), Oho Federation of Licensed Practical Nursing (OFLPN) and past member of the American Cardiology Technologists Association (ACTA). Carrie was a member of the former Faith Mission Community Church, where she served in many capacities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by (2) brothers: Staff Sgt. Arthur L. “Bumpsy” Meadows, US Air Force (Retired) and Staff Sgt. Willie “Sarg” Meadows, US Army (Retired); (2) sisters, Virginia “Lucille” Carr and Gladys M. Tyler. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James A. Lowery; daughters: Cheryel L. Meadows (Charleston, WV) and Serida L. Lowery of Dayton; special cousin, Katherine Banks (Barboursville, VA); godsons, Ralph and Nathaniel Shelton; “Lifelong Friends”, Grafton S. Payne, Alice Roberta Dunn, Derry McCurdy, Leona Wacks, Rick Cunningham, The Bertram Family, Dr. Kitren Sinnathamby and Family, Dr. Satyenera Gupta and Family and Donna Williams; special daughter, Regina Gilroy and a host of nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her. The family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Hospice of Dayton nurses who lovingly cared for her. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Local arrangements entrusted to Thomas Funeral Home, 4520 Salem Ave., Trotwood, OH and the J. F. Bell Funeral Home, Inc., 108 6th Street, NW, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
